George Clooney, If You’re Reading This, Katie Couric Would Like to Go Out With You. Plus Other Fun Things Couric Would Like to Do

Katie Couric met with the nation’s TV critics yesterday, July 26, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., and talked about a few segments she will do regularly on her new syndicated daytime talk show that starts this fall.

Said Couric, "I think you’ll see recurring franchises on the show. I think we’re going to be doing something called ‘Women Who Should Be Famous,’ where we’ll be able to spotlight some of these remarkable women who are doing extraordinary things and not getting much attention for those things.

"I’m doing this thing called YOLO … but for you guys who don’t know, that’s You Only Live Once, which is a kind of a modern twist on the notion of a bucket list. So I’m going to be doing some of the things that I’ve always wanted to do, sort of fulfilling my fantasies. But why I’m excited about that franchise is we’re going to give viewers an opportunity to tell us something that they’ve always wanted to do. And, you know, for us to have access to some of these people and some of these experiences and to let someone who would never have the opportunity to do so kind of check something off on his or her bucket list is a really exciting idea for me."

Couric was then asked what some of the things are on her YOLO list.

Couric replied, "Well, I’d like to star in a Broadway musical, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Because when I auditioned for my high school musical ‘Carnival,’ they cast me actually as a deaf mute."

That was met by laughter from the room full of TV critics.

Couric continued, "No, that’s a true story and it was very humiliating. So I went to my drama teacher, Timothy Jecko [sp?], and I objected. And he actually then gave me the role of a dancing bear. So … I would love to be in a Broadway musical even if I were just a part of the chorus and just got to be onstage, because I think that would be really exciting. I’d like to go out with George Clooney if you can arrange that. But I don’t know. I have a lot of fun things. You know, there’s just going to be a handful of things that I’d like do. I’ve never jumped out of an airplane, and that’s something that I’m a little afraid of heights, but I’d like to do that just because I think it would be exciting. I have no desire to bungee jump, though.
