HBO Renews Two Series — Including One That Has Only Aired Two Episodes

HBO has made the decision two renew two series, including one that has become a fixture on the pay-cable network and another that has recently debuted.

“True Blood” will return for a sixth season, while “The Newsroom” will be back for a second. The pickup for Aaron Sorkin’s “The Newsroom” comes after only two episodes have been televised.

In a press release, HBO describes “The Newsroom” this way: “This series centers on a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn) and their boss (Sam Waterston). Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal relationships.”

Alan Ball’s vampire series “True Blood,” based on the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, has been wildly successful for HBO. The channel offers this brief blurb on the Emmy-nominated drama: “The show follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard)."

    TWO renew?
I mourn the death of proofreading by those in an industry that should take pride in a command of the English language.
