Michael Jackson's Mom Loses Guardianship of MJ's Kids for Now, as Court Is Told She Has Been Held Against Her Will TMZ
Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, has been temporarily stripped of her role as guardian of the late pop superstar’s children, as a family drama with many bizarre twists played out in court, TMZ.com reports.
Judge Mitch Beckloff this morning granted temporary guardianship of Paris, Prince and Blanket Jackson to TJ Jackson, the son of Tito Jackson.
The move follows a series of unusual incidents that included an accusation by Katherine Jackson that Michael’s siblings Janet, Jermaine and Randy were conspiring to take the children away from her, as we reported yesterday.
TMZ reports: “The judge said Katherine was not suspended for wrongdoing, but that she was prevented from doing her guardianship duties by ‘intentional act from third parties.’ In other words, the judge smells a rat in the form of Randy, Jermaine and Janet.”
Judge Beckloff also ordered that the children could not be taken out of California without a court order, the story reports.
A lawyer representing Michael’s children reportedly said in court that the children supported giving temporary guardianship to TJ.
The report adds: “TJ's lawyer said TJ had a strange phone call with Katherine yesterday and TJ said, ‘I've never heard my grandmother talk like that.’ TJ added, ‘She wasn't sharp. The pauses, choice of vocabulary ... she has not used certain phrases like that before.’ TJ thought she was talking in code. As TJ addressed the court, he was choking up.”
Among a number of odd revelations during the hearing, Sandra Ribera, the attorney for Katherine Jackson, said she had been to the house a number of times and believes that Katherine has been held against her will, the story reports.
Charles Schultz, TJ’s attorney, told the court there had been an “incident” last night at the home in Calabasas, which had escalated, TMZ reports. He also said TJ is uncertain that Katherine Jackson is acting voluntarily.
“Beckloff said this was not a power play by TJ and ordered the Michael Jackson Estate to give TJ the funds necessary to take care of security and anything else that's needed for the children,” the report adds.
