Movie Project Goes Horribly Wrong: Actor Brendan Fraser Is Accused of Assault, Battery and Emotional Distress in Lawsuit by Producer Deadline
A dispute over a possible feature film project based on William Tell has turned ugly. After actor Brendan Fraser sued producer Todd Moyer over the project, Moyer has fired back with a lawsuit accusing the actor of assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, Deadline.com reports.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday by Moyer in L.A. Superior Court, “claims Fraser punched him repeatedly in the chest on two different occasions, the first time in a hotel in Indianapolis where he and Fraser had been working with screenwriters on ‘The Legend Of William Tell,’” the story reports.
The complaint says that Fraser “in an intoxicated state began to physically push, verbally threaten and punch Plaintiff repeatedly in the chest.”
A second incident about a year later, during a production meeting for the project, is also alleged. “Moyer claims Fraser began screaming threats, then hit him in the chest over 20 times when Moyer refused Fraser’s request to hire Charlotte Huggins as a producer on the project,” Deadline reports.
The complaint says the incident took place in front of “Tracy Brennan, the co-head of motion picture talent at Creative Artists Agency, Kim Hodgert, talent agent for Creative Artists Agency, and Eric Brevig, a well-known movie director,” according to the story.
