"The Mummy" star Brendan Fraser has been cast in his first major scripted television series role, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed.

Fraser will star in TNT’s drama pilot "Legends,” the story reports. Fraser has previously appeared on TV in a guest role in "Scrubs" and in the telepic "The Twilight of the Golds," the story notes, and he has done voice work for animated series.

The actor will play an operative called Martin Odum, who can transform himself for different jobs, but whose identity is questioned when a stranger says he might not be who he thinks he is, the story notes.

The project is from "Homeland" executive producer Howard Gordon, and is based on a book from novelist Robert Littell.
