Mary Queen of Scots is the focus of a new project at the CW, with the network buying a "fantastical reimagining" of the historical figure, reports Deadline.com.

Called "Reign," the project is described as "Game of Thrones" crossed with "Marie Antoinette," depicting the teenage Mary as she deals with intrigue at the French Court.

Mary succeeded her father, King James V of Scotland, to the throne at just 6 days old, and grew up mostly in France while Scotland was ruled by regents. At 16, she married Francis, Dauphin of France, although he died a year later, making her a widow at 18.

"Reign" is from writers and executive producers Laurie McCarthy of "CSI: Miami" and Stephanie SenGupta of "Outlaw."
