Fox News announced today that it has hired an editor-at-large. The cable news channel’s executive vice president, News Editorial, Michael Clemente, announced that the job will go to Peter J. Boyer.
Boyer has been a senior correspondent for Newsweek/Daily Beast. At Fox he will contribute to editorial content across all platforms, reporting to Clemente and Fox News Executive Editor John Moody.
Boyer was recruited by Fox News chief Roger Ailes. “I have followed Peter’s work throughout his storied career,” Ailes said. “He’s a talented and insightful journalist who will add weight and depth to our investigative reporting.”
In its announcement, Fox News noted: “Boyer spent 18 years as a staff writer at The New Yorker, where he wrote on a wide range of subjects, including politics, the military, religion, and sports. Before joining The New Yorker in 1992, Boyer was a national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, the media reporter for The New York Times, a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, and a television critic for National Public Radio’s ‘Morning Edition.’”
Boyer won an Emmy and a Peabody Award for his work on PBS’s “Frontline.”
