Report: Ryan Murphy Project Heads to HBO After Failed Effort to Bring It to Big Screen Perez Hilton

A high-profile project that "Glee's" Ryan Murphy hoped to take to the big screen -- with a cast including Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin Jim Parsons and Marc Ruffalo -- is now heading to HBO, reports Perez Hilton.

The project is an adaptation of Larry Kramer's AIDS play "The Normal Heart." Even with Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B, behind him, Murphy has been unable to get the financing for a feature. It will become a $15 million HBO miniseries instead in the style of "Angels in America."

"The Normal Heart" has been a success on Broadway in its original run and the revival. The controversial play tells the story of the advent of AIDS as it affected a group of gay men in New York City early in the 1980s, when the media and the political world were skeptical about the disease's existence.
