Showtime Buys Roman Polanski Documentary TheWrap
A documentary about film director Roman Polanski has been bought by Showtime, reports TheWrap.com. "Roman Polanski: Odd Man Out" is set to premiere next year on the pay-cable network.
The film tracks the director's 2009 arrest at the Zurich Film Festival and explores "the bizarre clash of politics, celebrity justice and the media as [director Marina Zenovich] sheds new light on the infamous saga of Polanski’s sexual abuse case and his escape from Swiss house arrest," according to Showtime.
Polanski has spent much of his life in exile after fleeing the United States to avoid sentencing in connection with a 1977 statutory rape case involving a 13-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty to unlawful sex with a minor but soon left the country and eventually settled in France.
His films include “Repulsion” (1965), “Rosemary’s Baby” (1968) and “Chinatown” (1974).
