ABC Considering Live-Action 'Star Wars' Series EW
ABC is taking a look at a "Star Wars" live-action television series, now that Disney's deal to buy Lucasfilm is done, reports EW.com's Inside TV.
Said ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee: “We haven’t even sat down with them. We’re going to look at [the live-action series], we’re going to look at all of them, and see what’s right. We weren’t able to discuss this with them until [the acquisition] closed and it just closed. It’s definitely going to be part of the conversation.”
Many aren't aware that Lucasfilm had been working on a live-action "Star Wars" television show, the story notes.
"The project was commissioned by longtime Lucasfilm producer Rick McCallum, who enlisted writers such as 'Battlestar Galactica's’ Ron Moore,” the piece notes.
After 50 scripts were written, nothing happened, with the visual effects considered too expensive for a broadcast or cable network, according to the report.
