CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who serves on the board of directors of the Livestrong non-profit founded by disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong, said he has taken a leave from the organization, reports TVNewser.com.

Gupta spoke about the issue for the first time since Armstrong’s doping admission in an interview with "Access Hollywood," the story notes. He said the Livestrong board met after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released its findings, but Gupta later decided to take a leave "because of the conflict of interest with CNN and the other news organizations investigating.”

Gupta said, “I was part of the same group that thought the organization was different than Lance — it was always supposed to be, you know. I hope any organization lives and perseveres longer than the man."
