Fox Sticking With Low-Rated Comedies to Give Them More Time Bloomberg

Fox wants to give a couple of low-rated comedies more time to attract audiences, reports Bloomberg, citing comments from Kevin Reilly, chairman of entertainment at Fox.

The network is standing by the sitcoms "Ben and Kate" and "The Mindy Project,” the piece reports. "Our shows weren’t rejected,” Reilly said at the Television Critics Association press tour. "They weren’t even sampled.”

Reilly said the shows will become hits as more viewers discover them. It's taking longer for programs to gain audiences because of on-demand viewing and DVRs, he said.

He also pointed to interruptions in the fall schedule from Major League Baseball coverage.

"That level of interruption hit ‘Glee,’ where the show was on four weeks, off four weeks,” Reilly said. “That means some of these shows just haven’t gotten on viewers’ radar.”
