NBC’s Sunday night broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, delivered the ceremony’s best ratings in six years, EW.com reports.
The telecast averaged a 6.4 rating in the key 18-49 demo and 19.7 million total viewers, based on Nielsen overnights — with the demo number representing a 28% improvement from last year. It was the best performance for the Globes since 2007 in both total viewers and the 18-49 demo, the piece reports.
“One network analyst cited a combination of factors for the ratings surge — the new hosts appealing to female viewers, NBC coming off its best fall performance in nearly a decade and less competition from rivals compared to last year,” the report notes.
