Golden Globes Deliver Best Ratings in Six Years EW
NBC’s Sunday night broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, delivered the ceremony’s best ratings in six years, EW.com reports.
The telecast averaged a 6.4 rating in the key 18-49 demo and 19.7 million total viewers, based on Nielsen overnights -- with the demo number representing a 28% improvement from last year. It was the best performance for the Globes since 2007 in both total viewers and the 18-49 demo, the piece reports.
“One network analyst cited a combination of factors for the ratings surge -- the new hosts appealing to female viewers, NBC coming off its best fall performance in nearly a decade and less competition from rivals compared to last year,” the report notes.
