In First Year Without Dick Clark, 'Rockin' Eve' Draws Largest Audience on ABC Deadline
ABC's New Year’s Eve broadcast "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest" pulled its largest audience ever on ABC, and also marked the first year without Dick Clark, reports Deadline.com.
Clark, known for hosting “American Bandstand,” died in April 2012 at age 82. The New Year’s Eve special first appeared on ABC in 2000.
The latest edition drew 13.3 million viewers and posted a 4.1 rating with adults 18 to 49, the story notes, helped by a Dick Clark special that aired from 8 to 10 p.m. and drew 9.4 million total viewers.
The ABC broadcast crushed the competition, with NBC’s “New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly” managing only a 1.1 average rating in 18-49 and 3.8 million total viewers.
