TBS Cancels Series THR
TBS is pulling the plug on a series that has failed to gain traction in the ratings. Going away after one season is the low-rated musical comedy-drama “Wedding Band,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Since its debut in November 2012 the series, which stars Brian Austin Green and Harold Perrineau, has been saddled with the tough 10 p.m. Saturday time slot.
“Despite a roster of notable guest stars including Green's wife, Megan Fox, ‘Wedding Band’ failed to register -- attracting 1.85 million total viewers and 1.1 million in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic, with a mere 613,000 in 18-34 for its November bow,” the piece reports. “The 10-episode series ended its run Saturday, averaging 850,000 total viewers in the 18-49 demo with 1.4 million total viewers heading into what marked its series finale.”
The program was part of an effort by TBS to ratchet up its lineup of original scripted comedies to air behind off-net screenings of “The Big Bang Theory,” the top-rated syndicated program, the piece notes.
TBS still has “Sullivan and Son,” “Men at Work” and “Cougar Town” among its scripted offerings.
