Was J-Lo's High-Profile Magazine Spread Timed to Upstage Mariah's 'Idol' Premiere -- And Did It Backfire? NY Post, Fashion & Style
Jennifer Lopez is unhappy with her People magazine cover, reports the New York Post's Page Six. Lopez, 43, feels the photo makes her look old and haggard, the story says.
Whether it’s intentional or not, the cover story on the former “American Idol” judge coincides with Mariah Carey's debut on "Idol" as a judge.
Lopez's manager, Benny Medina, said he's happy with the magazine's spread. "We worked closely with the editors of People and we are very pleased with cover photo and the results all around," he said, according to the article.
But the piece also quotes a source saying: “Her camp feels she looks old and haggard.” The piece adds: “Friends are also comparing the singer and former ‘American Idol’ judge’s wide-eyed look and stick-straight hair to eccentric 70-year-old fashion designer Betsey Johnson.”
The People magazine article discusses J-Lo’s life after splitting from Marc Anthony. Fashion & Style notes that Lopez, who ended her seven-year marriage to Anthony in 2011, is now dating 25-year-old choreographer Casper Smart.
The Fashion & Style report notes that Lopez talked to People about dating a younger man: "I ask him, 'Why don't you go find a young girlfriend and get out of here? What do you want with me?' And you think, 'How long is this gonna be?' You think, OK, in 10 years I'm going to be like this and you're going to be like that' and … men at that age are … I think all different things.”
Lopez also said of Smart: "I just got out of a big, heavy, devastating thing, and he's helped me heal. He's been there for me."
“We're loving this moment right now,” she added. “We make each other happy."
