Another Oscar-winning actress has signed on for the third season of "American Horror Story," the FX horror anthology, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

Kathy Bates will join the show, setting up a possible showdown with another Oscar winner, Jessica Lange, the piece notes. Bates won the Academy Award for her role as super (and super crazy) fan Annie in the 1990 feature "Misery." Lange has two Oscars — for “Tootsie” (1982) and “Blue Sky” (1994). Both actresses have a number of other nominations as well.

The piece notes that Taissa Farmiga, an alum of the show’s first season, will return, with Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy also in the lineup.

Show creator Ryan Murphy said of season three: “What we’re doing is more ambitious than what we’ve ever done. This one will be shot on location in three different cities in the country.”
