Beyonce’s Super Bowl Outfit Earns Wrath of Activist Group

Beyonce’s halftime performance at Sunday’s Super Bowl may or may not have had something to do with turning the lights out at the New Orleans Superdome, but it definitely flipped a switch for one activist group: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that PETA issued a statement blasting the singer for her leather duds.

Said PETA: "We would take a bet that if Beyonce watched our video exposés … she’d probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits, or other animals who died painfully. Today’s fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyonce’s Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score."

The report cites Vogue saying Beyonce’s skimpy outfit, designed by Rubin Singer, consisted of “strips of engineered python, paneled iguana and trapunto/pick stitched leather.”
