A third “NCIS” series is shaping up at CBS, USA Today reports. The show will begin life in two March episodes of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” with John Corbett — a veteran of “Northern Exposure” and “Sex and the City” — to star.
The report describes the new project as a “potential” spinoff.
“The episodes will feature a small, mobile team of NCIS agents who live and work together as they travel the country investigating crimes,” the story reports.
The two episodes are set for March 19 and 26.
“Corbett, more recently seen in ‘Parenthood,’ will play analyst Roy Quaid, a former NCIS special agent forced to retire from active service,” the report notes. “He is the most experienced investigator working for Red Team.”
“NCIS: Los Angeles” had a similar launch strategy, being introduced in two episodes of the original “NCIS” series before striking out on its own.
