Goodbye, 'Liz & Dick,' Hello, 'Burton & Taylor' Deadline

On the heels of the high-profile 2012 Lifetime TV movie "Liz & Dick," which featured Lindsay Lohan portraying screen icon Elizabeth Taylor, comes news of another TV movie about Taylor and her ex-husband Richard Burton.

Deadline.com reports that the BBC has cast Dominic West of "The Wire" to play Burton and Helena Bonham Carter of the "Harry Potter" films to portray Taylor in “Burton & Taylor.”

The 90-minute film will air on BBC Four and track their ill-fated appearance in a 1983 revival of "Private Lives," a Noel Coward play. The Broadway show ran for 63 performances.

The couple were married twice, from 1964-1974 and from 1975-1976.

Last year’s Lifetime project had a generally cool reception from critics, along with modest ratings, with its 3.5 million viewers ranking it as Lifetime’s fourth-most-watched TV movie of the year behind “Steel Magnolias” (6.5 million), “Drew Peterson: Untouchable (5.8 million) and “Abducted: The Carlina White Story” (3.5 million).
