NBC Orders Reboot of 1960s Drama Series; Blair Underwood to Play Lead EW
NBC has ordered a pilot for a remake of a 1960s drama series, with "L.A. Law" and "In Treatment" actor Blair Underwood in the lead role. EW.com's Inside TV reports that the network gave the go-ahead to a new version of “Ironside.”
NBC says the remake is about a “tough, sexy but acerbic police detective relegated to a wheelchair after a shooting" but who "is hardly limited by his disability as he pushes and prods his hand-picked team to solve the most difficult cases in the city."
The original series, which starred Raymond Burr, bowed in 1967 and ran for eight seasons on NBC.
