NBC Sets Premiere Date for 'Hannibal' -- With a Surprise in the Scheduling EW
NBC will debut the serial killer drama "Hannibal" on April 4 at 10 p.m., giving the show a Thursday slot, reports EW.com's Inside TV.
"The time slot is a bit of a surprise,” the article notes. “One would expect given NBC’s recent drama struggles that the Bryan Fuller series would at least have its premiere stunted behind 'The Voice' this spring, a strategy that’s really helped another freshman drama, 'Revolution.'"
The time period is also when NBC had previously scheduled "Do No Harm," which was canceled after just two episodes because of low ratings.
Because NBC waited so long to announce the air date for "Hannibal," some observers speculated that the network was waiting until criticism of TV violence following the shootings in Newtown had subsided, the story notes.
