One of the current Academy Award nominees is making the move to the small screen. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Jacki Weaver — part of a nomination sweep by “Silver Linings Playbook” in the four acting categories — will star in CBS’s comedy pilot “The McCarthys.”

The piece notes that Weaver — who was also previously nominated for an Oscar for the 2010 movie “Animal Kingdom” — will go from playing the mom of a sports-obsessed Philadelphia family in “Playbook” to playing the mom of a sports-obsessed Boston family in “McCarthys.”

“The pilot is described as a family comedy about a loud, sports-crazed Boston family, with Weaver playing the mother of the McCarthys, Marjorie,” the story reports. “She’s described as loving, exhausted and having no filter, who enjoys having her son keep her company when her husband Arthur (‘Rescue Me’s’ Jack McGee) and other kids are off coaching basketball games.”

“The McCarthys” is a single-camera effort from ‘Are You There, Chelsea?’ writer Brian Gallivan, executive produced by Will Gluck and Richie Schwartz. The piece notes that if the project is picked up to series, it would be the first regular series role for Weaver.
