Why NBC Is Pushing Back One of Its Development Projects Deadline
NBC is pushing back one of the projects it has in development, Deadline.com reports. The show is one of two at broadcast networks in the current development season based on “Alice in Wonderland.”
NBC’s project, “Wonderland,” received a late pickup from the network, and later switched studios when ABC Studios pulled out and Universal TV took over.
"Wonderland" is executive produced by "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker. Deadline reports: "The project, written by feature scribe Whit Anderson, will not be produced within the regular pilot season because of the scale and complexity of the production, including visual effects."
The cost of the project was a factor in ABC Studios’ decision to drop out, the piece notes. The pilot will likely start filming before the end of the pilot season but won't be delivered before summer, the article adds.
The CW has its own “Alice in Wonderland” project in development, titled “Wunderland.”
