A ruling in a former “Price Is Right” model’s high-profile lawsuit against the show wipes out her earlier $7.7 million victory. The Hollywood Reporter’s Hollywood, Esq. reports that a Los Angeles Superior Court judge granted a motion for a new trial because of bad jury instructions.

Model Brandi Cochran alleged in her lawsuit that she was fired from the show after eight years when she became pregnant. She claimed producers treated her differently and gave her less work, the story says.

While producers wanted the judge to throw out the $7.7 million award, the judge rejected that motion, saying that "the evidence established that Defendants discriminated against Plaintiff," according to the story. However, the judge said a new trial had to be granted because of the faulty jury instructions.

According to the story, "Judges need to instruct the jury that discrimination is not just a ‘motivating factor/reason’ for termination but a ‘substantial motivation factor/reason.’

"In the Cochran case, the judge failed to issue this ‘substantial’ guidance despite a request from the defendants."
