CBS Drama Signs Veteran 'Law & Order' Showrunner Deadline
A veteran "Law & Order" writer and showrunner has been hired for a new CBS drama project. Deadline.com reports that Rene Balcer signed on with the pilot "The Ordained."
Balcer helped creator Lisa Cullen with conceptualizing the idea when she first started on the project in 2011, the story notes. "Because of Balcer’s previous involvement, he was a top choice and was available, leading to his deal on the project," the story notes.
Balcer will serve as executive producer and showrunner for the project, which is about the son of a Kennedy-like family who leaves the priesthood to become a lawyer to help his family.
