A cable drama series has received the go-ahead for a third season, thanks in large part to a deal with Netflix. Deadline.com reports that AMC’s crime series "The Killing" got the renewal when Netflix closed negotiations with producer Fox Television Studios.

The story notes, "Under the pact, Netflix will be the exclusive subscription TV service for ‘The Killing’ Season 3 and will begin streaming it three months after the third season finale airs on AMC."

Getting access to the "The Killing" early was important to Netflix and essential to the deal, the story says, noting that the three-month window is unusually short.

Said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix: “We’re excited to see ‘The Killing’ back on TV and we’re especially proud to bring Season 3 to our members so soon after it premieres on AMC. ‘The Killing’ is a terrific serialized drama and we know our members love these high-quality shows.”
