Four-Time Emmy Winner Joins 'Sex' THR

A four-time Emmy-winning actress has joined a high-profile upcoming drama series on Showtime, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Allison Janney, who won four Emmys playing C.J. Cregg on NBC’s “The West Wing,” will be a part of the series “Masters of Sex.”

The series stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan. Janney will appear in a five-episode arc, the story notes.

“’Masters of Sex’ centers on the real-life pioneers of the science of human sexuality, William Masters (Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Caplan),” the piece reports. “The hourlong drama chronicles the unusual lives, romance and pop culture trajectory of Masters and Johnson, whose research touched off the sexual revolution and took them from a Midwestern teaching hospital in St. Louis to the cover of Time.”

Janney’s character is Margaret Scully, who’s married to university provost Barton Scully, played by Beau Bridges.

“Caitlin Fitzgerald co-stars as Masters' wife, along with Nicholas D'Agosto and Teddy Sears. Margo Martindale also will appear,” the report adds. Production has begun in Los Angeles on season one.
