Oscar Producers Still Defending 'Boobs' Song, Say Everyone Missed the Joke THR
The producers behind Seth MacFarlane's hosting of this year's Oscars telecast said people "missed the joke" behind his much-criticized "Boobs Song," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The song made fun of actresses including Charlize Theron and Kate Winslet for baring their breasts in movies.
"It was not about the women that were mentioned -- the song was about him being a bad host and him being a juvenile, which was why he was a bad host," said producer Craig Zadan.
Fellow producer Neil Meron added, "Everyone who complained missed the joke -- it was satire."
They were proud of MacFarlane, Meron said. "Seth is irreverent. He comments on things that happen in our culture, and that's what he did -- and we thought he did an extraordinary job," he added.
