A scripted comedy series from “Saturday Night Live” alum Will Ferrell has received the green light, Deadline.com reports. The show, “The Spoils of Babylon,” comes from Ferrell and Adam McKay, and is produced by Funny or Die.

“Spoils” received a six-episode order from cable channel IFC, the piece reports. The show is “an adaptation of a best-selling novel by fictional famous author Eric Jonrosh (played by Ferrell),” the story notes.

Deadline adds: “The blowsy century-spanning saga chronicles the sexy and dramatic lives of a family who made their fortune in the oil business. Andrew Steele (‘Saturday Night Live’) wrote the script. Matt Piedmont (‘Casa de mi Padre’) directs. The two executive produce with Ferrell and McKay.”

Said Ferrell: “This is a crazy and maybe even a stupid idea. IFC is either really courageous or really stupid, which makes them the perfect partner for us.”

  1. Stupid sells, which explains why stars like Farrell and Adam Sandler rake in the money. No idea is too stupid, it seems.
