The CEO of a major cable programmer has taken what’s being described as a pay cut, but it sounds as though he should be able to get by.

Discovery Communications Chief Executive David Zaslav saw his compensation dip a little in 2012, Jon Lafayette reports in B&C. Zaslav earned $49.9 million last year, down from $52.4 million in 2011, the story reports.

Zaslav’s salary rose slightly, to $3 million last year from $2.961 million in 2011. He received $25.3 million in stock awards, a bump from $20.3 million, and received $5.3 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation, up from $4.8 million in 2011.

The reductions came from his option awards, which were $15.8 million last year, down from $23.8 million in 2011.
