Eva Longoria Explains Why She's Taking Her Talents Online Ad Age
Hulu's most recent move into original content is a half-hour series that stars former "Desperate Housewives" actress Eva Longoria, reports Advertising Age.
Longoria will play Rudi Wilson in "Mother Up," an animated comedy set to debut on Hulu in the fall with a 13-episode order. It will also air on Canada's City Television.
Hulu and Rogers Media of Canada backed the show, which is executive produced by Longoria, Mass Animation founder Yair Landau and "Family Guy" and "American Dad" co-producer Michael Shipley.
Longoria said actors are expanding their horizons beyond traditional TV. "Creativity expands when distribution expands," she said.
She added that the TV landscape has changed since "Desperate Housewives" pulled 30 million viewers just 10 years ago. "TV in general is an elevator that's gone down," she said. "It's not affecting just one network; those [big] numbers just don't exist."
Landau called "Mother Up" a "Family Guy"-style show offering a "female-empowerment standpoint," the story says.
