'How I Met Your Mother' Exec Producer Headed to Sitcom on Rival Network After Show Wraps THR
Stephen Lloyd, the executive producer of "How I Met Your Mother," has signed a new two-year deal with 20th Television, keeping him on the CBS comedy for its final season and then moving him to ABC’s "Modern Family" the following year, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed.
Moving to "Modern Family" means Lloyd will work alongside his brother, Chris Lloyd, the co-creator and co-showrunner of the ABC comedy, the story notes.
“Modern Family” often uses material from producers' personal lives as inspiration for plot lines, the piece notes.
20th Television Chairman Gary Newman said: "It also speaks to how much we value Stephen that he'll go straight from [‘How I Met Your Mother’] to our incredibly important 'Modern Family' the following year.”
Stephen Lloyd has worked on "How I Met Your Mother" since 2006 and shared in the show's 2009 outstanding comedy series Emmy nomination, the story adds.
