MSNBC Names New Panelist for ‘The Cycle’ as Network Continues to Shuffle Lineup

MSNBC’s latest round of musical chairs continues as the network moves on-air personalities into new slots. B&C reports that the channel named Ari Melber as the new panelist on “The Cycle.”

Melber replaces Steve Kornacki, who moved from “The Cycle” to host the channel’s weekend morning show “Up.” “Up’s” Chris Hayes vacated that chair to fill a vacancy in the nightly prime-time lineup, where Ed Schultz recently departed for a lead role in the new MSNBC prime-time weekend programming.

Melber joins co-hosts S.E. Cupp, Krystal Ball and Touré on “The Cycle, which airs weekdays at 3 p.m. ET.

“Melber has been with MSNBC since 2011 as a contributor and has guest hosted for Alex Wagner and Martin Bashir,” the report notes. “He is the author of MSNBC.com’s ‘The Laws of Politics’ blog. He is also a correspondent for The Nation.”

MSNBC also just named Karen Finney to host a new weekend 4 p.m. program, as we reported earlier this week.
