Starz May Order 'Outlander' Straight to Series Deadline

An adaptation of the best-selling novel "Outlander" is moving forward at Starz, with "Battlestar Galactica" developer Ron Moore, who is leading the drama series project, opening a writers room, reports Deadline.com.

The move may signal that Starz is considering a straight-to-series order for the project, which is the path that the network has taken with many of its original series, the story notes.

The production has hired two writers who worked with Moore on previous projects. They are Toni Graphia from "Battlestar" and Matt Roberts of "Caprica." The project has also hired Ira Behr, a showrunner who has worked on "Alphas," and Anne Kenney of "L.A. Law," the story says.

"Outlander" tracks the adventures of a World War II combat nurse who travels through time to 1743, where she is forced to marry a romantic Scottish warrior named Jamie. The book combines romance, fantasy and adventure.
