TV Legend Suffering From Mysterious Ailment Malibu Patch

A veteran actor who has been a television presence for decades says he’s dealing with a disturbing health problem that has him baffled. Malibu Patch reports that comedy legend Dick Van Dyke, 87, sent out a tweet Thursday about the problem.

Van Dyke tweeted: "My head bangs every time I lay down. I've had every test come back that I'm perfectly healthy. Anybody got any ideas?"

A spokesman for Van Dyke reportedly told “Entertainment Tonight” that the star of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” was suffering from "fatigue and lack of sleep resulting from symptoms of a yet-to-be diagnosed neurological disorder,” the report notes.

Van Dyke was reportedly resting Thursday at his home in Malibu, having canceled an appearance in New York.

“Van Dyke was scheduled to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for Bettering Humanity through Comedy from New York's 92Y, but according to his spokesman, he's currently unable to attend any events requiring air travel,” the story reports. “Van Dyke explained on Twitter that the malady is not new. It has been going on for seven years and ... he's had ‘every test you can think of (CAT Scan, MRI, Spinal tap etc),’ and that he also has ‘very low blood pressure.’"

Besides his 1960s sitcom and the long-running CBS drama “Diagnosis: Murder,” Van Dyke is known for a long string of successful movies, including “Bye Bye Birdie,” “Mary Poppins” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
