A TV newsman making his debut as weekend co-anchor for a local TV station had what can only be called a disastrous first day on the job.

EW.com reports: “Newly minted news anchor A.J. Clemente must have been excited about hosting the weekend news for KFYR-TV in Bismarck, N.D. for the very first time this Sunday. Unfortunately, his anticipation manifested in just about the worst way possible. Right before he first appeared on air, Clemente — apparently unaware that his mic was on — was practicing saying ‘Tsegaye Kebede’ out loud. The London Marathon winner‘s name proved difficult for Clemente to wrap his head around — which prompted the anchor to mutter “f—in’ sh–” to himself, rattling both his co-anchor Van Tieu and the fine, honest folk of the Peace Garden State.”

After being introduced by his co-anchor, Clemente made contact with the camera and made an awkward attempt to soldier on.

KFYR later released a statement apologizing for the incident and saying Clemente had been suspended. Clemente also tweeted an apology.

  1. That is why I don’t use certain words. that way you don’t have to worry about using them at the wrong time. Also they need to teach the old adage: If you are in the studio, assume the mic is hot, ALWAYS!

  2. They must really be hurting for “talent” in Bismarck.
