MTV is blocking "Buckwild" producers from shopping the show to other networks, with producer J.P. Williams criticizing the network for the decision, calling it "the most hypocritical network out there," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The reality series was canceled earlier this month following the death of Shain Gandee, one of the stars of the West Virginia-based show.

Williams had planned to shop the show to other networks following MTV’s cancellation, the story says. "Williams, who also manages most of the show’s cast members, now says there was interest from other cable networks but MTV’s top execs Van Toffler and Susanne Daniels refused to let the property go. He’s upset by the decision," the story says.

"Van and Susanne can keep promoting pre-martial sex and promoting leaving the baby after you have it [on ‘Teen Mom’]. I’m so glad they have found their moral bar," Williams said.

MTV declined to comment, according to the story. The network controls rights to the show, and had been negotiating with Williams about the possibility of shopping it to other networks, but talks broke down Friday, the piece adds.

"Allowing ‘Buckwild’ to potentially succeed on another network might have been embarrassing for MTV, even if a deal could be worked out that allowed the network to share in revenue from the show," the piece notes.
