BBC Asks Fans Not to Disclose 'Doctor Who' Spoilers After DVD Mishap NY Times
The BBC is asking fans to avoid revealing spoilers for the "Doctor Who" finale after a small number of the show's U.S. fans pre-ordered the series on DVD and received their orders three weeks early, reports The New York Times' ArtsBeat. The DVD sets include the final episode of the season, which isn't slated to air until Saturday, the report notes.
"We are asking fans who may have the discs not to divulge plot details so that fellow fans who have yet to see the episodes do not have their viewing pleasure ruined,” BBC Worldwide said in a statement.
The finale is called "The Name of the Doctor" and is said to reveal crucial details about the mysterious time-traveling doctor, who is played by Matt Smith.
BBC Worldwide said that Steven Moffat, the show's producer, would share a special video with Smith and his predecessor in the role, David Tennant, if the people who have seen the pre-released DVDs keep mum.
"But you don’t need to be a time-traveling alien from the planet Gallifrey to know how this is probably going to end," The Times notes.
