HBO has given an eight-episode order to an untitled dramedy project starring Jonathan Groff, which is about three friends exploring the city’s gay culture, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

The project is from Andrew Haigh, who directed a pilot that’s based on a film script by Michael Lannan called "Lorimer," the story says. Groff will star with Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett as the three friends.

Production is slated for the fall, with the series expected to debut in 2014.
