An Oscar-winning actress has been cast in a Fox event series from Chad Hodge and M. Night Shyamalan, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports. The actress is Melissa Leo, who joins "Wayward Pines."

The 10-episode drama, which also stars Matt Dillon, is based on a novel of the same name by Blake Crouch. It focuses on Secret Service agent Ethan Burke, played by Dillon, who is searching the town of Wayward Pines, Ind., for two missing federal agents.

Leo will play Nurse Pam, who takes care of Burke when he wakes up in the hospital, the story notes. It marks Leo’s first TV role since the final season of HBO’s "Treme." She won a supporting actress Oscar for "The Fighter," and was nominated for lead actress for the 2008 movie "Frozen River."
