Chernin May Have a Powerful Ally in Bid for Hulu

The Chernin Group’s effort to acquire online streaming service Hulu may have found a high-powered ally. The Wall Street Journal reports that AT&T is considering joining the group in its bid for Hulu.

"It makes sense — in addition to its core phone business, AT&T also sells broadband and TV via its U-verse service,” the story reports. “And, while well-funded, Chernin certainly could use the extra financial firepower in the multi-player competition to buy Hulu.”

Several big companies have expressed interest in Hulu since its owners — News Corp., Disney and Comcast — decided to sell. Among the suitors are Yahoo, Time Warner Cable, DirecTV and Guggenheim Partners.
