Matt Lauer Lashes Out at New York Times TVNewser
"Today" co-host Matt Lauer took a shot at The New York Times when he appeared on Howard Stern's radio show Wednesday morning, reports TVNewser.
Asked what he reads in the morning, the NBC morning fixture mentioned The Times and said he also reads either the New York Post or the Daily News. Lauer was unflatteringly portrayed in Times reporter Brian Stelter's book "Top of the Morning," which was excerpted in the newspaper.
"I think there has been a little erosion in some areas as of late," Lauer said of The Times.
Asked by Stern whether he meant the way The Times treated him, Lauer responded, "Not only me personally, but the show, the industry, the way they cover television. If I think it’s unfair, if I think at times it’s been a little lazy, then it absolutely affects my opinion."
Stern asked, "Will you ever call someone at the The New York Times and say, ‘I think you’ve been lazy in this area’?"
Lauer responded, "No, no, no. I don’t call back people -- I’m not a complainer; that’s not what I do."
