Online streaming service Netflix has renewed an original horror series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Netflix picked up a second season of "Hemlock Grove."

Season two will be a little shorter than the show’s freshman season, the piece notes: The second season will consist of 10 episodes, down from 13 for season one. The show is also adding Charles "Chic" Eglee as showrunner and executive producer.

"Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season one was just a warmup for what we have in store for season two," said executive producer Eli Roth.

The series is produced by Gaumont International Television, the U.S.-based TV subsidiary of the venerable Gaumont Film Company, based in France. The parent company, founded in 1906, is the oldest continuously operating film company in the world, predating U.S. companies such as Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios, both of which were founded in 1912.

Gaumont is increasingly moving into television series production through its U.S. subsidiary, and is behind NBC’s "Hannibal," among other shows. 

The second season of "Hemlock Grove" will debut in 2014.
