Next on Nik Wallenda’s To-Do List: Walk Between Two Iconic New York Skyscrapers

Daredevil Nik Wallenda has his next goal in mind: to walk across a tightrope strung between two New York City landmarks — the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building, a distance of 4,000 feet, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

However, it doesn’t appear as if his dream will come to pass, given that New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has said he won’t grant permits to Wallenda.

"It’s dangerous to cross the Grand Canyon, and obviously, there’s water at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Here, we have thousands of New Yorkers," Kelly told New York station WCBS-TV.

Wallenda’s walk across a tightrope spanning the Grand Canyon drew 13 million viewers to the Discovery Channel Sunday night.

Wallenda is a member of a dynastic daredevil family, the Flying Wallendas. He’s the great-grandson of family patriarch Karl Wallenda, who fell to his death in 1978 in Puerto Rico while attempting a high-wire walk between the towers of the Condado Plaza Hotel.
