The final screenplay by the man behind “The Twilight Zone” — Rod Serling — is being shopped as a miniseries by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

The production company bought the rights to Serling’s "The Stops Along the Way," the story notes. The idea is to sell the project as an "event" series.

Serling created "The Twilight Zone,” which aired on CBS from 1959 to 1964 and was recently named the third best-written TV show of all time, as previously reported. Serling also wrote and produced many screenplays, including "Planet of the Apes."

The content of "The Stops Along the Way" has remained a mystery since Serling’s death in 1975. Serling reportedly mentioned the script in his final interview, saying it was one of his personal favorites among the pieces he had written, but did not reveal what it was about.

  1. Serling had a very strong persona.
I was working on a syndicated talk show some years back. Not knowing who was scheduled to be on, one day I walked into the shows Green Room and without looking was hit with the sense of a strong presence in the room. My pulse shot up as I visually scanned the room for the source of this feeling. Across some twenty-five feet, my eyes locked on Serling’s. He did not blink, nor did I.
    It was a surreal experience.
I have met, known and worked with hundreds of major personalities throughout my career and I have to say that this experience was unique, very unique.
