Why Jim Carrey Says He Can’t Support His New Movie

Actor Jim Carrey is putting the word out that he doesn’t support his new movie, "Kick-Ass 2." TMZ.com reports that the actor took toTwitter to discuss his sentiments in response to December’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

"I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence," Carrey wrote. He added, "My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

The film is slated for release in August, and is a highly anticipated sequel to a film that grossed almost $100 million. The lack of support from Carrey, who is the film’s biggest star, is a blow to the film, the story points out.

Universal, the studio behind the sequel, didn’t get back to TMZ with a comment, the story notes. Carrey plays Colonel Stars and Stripes in the movie.

  1. Did Carrey give back the money they paid him and is he going to refuse the profit split?

  2. So Columbine, Gabby Giffords, etc… didn’t move old Jimbo, but NOW he’s had a change of heart. Sorry Jim.
