Appearance on TV Show Leads to Death Threats Daily Mail
After their appearance on a TV reality show set off a torrent of criticism among viewers, the owners of a restaurant in Arizona are reportedly receiving death threats.
Amy and Samy Bouzaglo, who own Amy's Baking Company in Scottsdale, tell the U.K. newspaper The Daily Mail that they're getting death threats since appearing on Fox's "Kitchen Nightmares." They say they have contacted the police and FBI about the situation.
"Over the past couple of months, we’ve gone from being completely unknown to having people call us at 3 a.m. saying they’re going to break into our house with a rifle, rape me and kill my husband," Amy Bouzaglo said.
Her husband is also under threat of deportation to Israel by Homeland Security after serving 15 years in prison for drug trafficking in Europe, the story adds.
Since the episode, which depicted host Gordon Ramsay walking out on the couple after he said he couldn't help them, they've changed their tip policy, allowing servers to keep their gratuities, the story notes.
"Since the show, we recognize the outcry and now we’re giving the servers their tips. It would still work out in their favor to be be paid hourly, but now they’re guaranteed to make a minimum of $7.80 an hour and we make sure they go home with more than that, 100%," Amy Bouzaglo said.
