Cable News Channels Under Fire Over Trayvon Martin Coverage

Two cable news channels are under fire over their coverage of the trial of George Zimmerman in the death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. The U.K. publication The Daily Mail reports that MSNBC and HLN are getting heat for televising a picture of Martin’s dead body during Friday’s trial coverage.

MSNBC only aired the photo for a brief moment, but a viewer took a picture of it, then emailed it to several websites. The picture then started spreading across the Web, the story reports.

Viewers upset by the image complained on Twitter about the photo, leading MSNBC anchor Tamron Hall write back that the photo was "an awful mistake," reports Mediaite.

HLN aired the same footage, Mediaite notes.
