Another TV news veteran has signed on with the new cable channel Al Jazeera America. TVNewser.com reports that the channel hired Joie Chen, a veteran of CNN and CBS News, as the anchor of its prime-time newsmagazine "America Tonight."

Chen most recently worked as a media consultant in Washington, D.C., after leaving CBS News in 2008. Before that, she worked at CNN and CNN International for more than decade.

"America Tonight" will include contributor Soledad O’Brien, and will air weeknights at 9 p.m.

"I’m thrilled to create world-class journalism with some of the best in the business,” Chen said in a statement. “’America Tonight’ will bring together the powerful and diverse voices of Al Jazeera America and stand out from other networks with its fearless, unbiased reporting.”
